Went on a morning trip to the @chattahoocheenaturecenter recently to spot some of those great blue herons nesting for inspiration. 😁 There were several nests but only one heron at the time, so I painted this afterward.

A new series begins! (Although I cheated a little because I had already started this before my Hokkaido cranes.) Inspired mostly by the game Okami (which I replayed, again), I built upon my original minimalist ink cranes collection, adding more color

The Hokkaido crane series is nearing an end, I think, for the time being. (I'm ready to move on to blue herons!) It's been fun sketching dancing cranes in all sorts of positions and playing with ways to paint the wings more fluidly and less rigidly.
