The below guidelines are for a general commissioned piece of work. Exact details will be dependent on a commission by commission basis.

Pricing

• The price will be determined by the size of the painting, the complexity, and finally the amount of time spent.

• 50% payment is required upfront as a deposit, while the other 50% upon receipt. The deposit is forefeit if you cancel the commission after work has begun.

Process

• We will discuss the commission request and what you are looking for. If I feel that I will not be able to meet your expectations (due to any number of reasons such as skill, time, etc.), I will politely decline your request. If it’s something that I can take on, I will provide a quote for my services.

• If the quote is acceptable, I will draw up a contract for the commission that must be agreed upon before we proceed.

• Next I will draw a sketch of the desired piece. During this time, revisions may be made. Once the sketch is approved, I will begin painting the piece.

• The piece can take anywhere from 1 week to a few months depending on the complexity and my availability. An estimate will be provided.

Revisions

• Up to 3 revisions will be included in the price of the commission during the sketching phase.

• Once the sketch is approved, revisions are unlikely to be made due to the nature of the watercolor medium. Unlike other mediums, you cannot simply “paint over” watercolor to make changes. This is part of the beauty and spontaneity of watercolor!
